Online Therapy - Online Psychologist

online psychologist

Online therapy  has been proven to be an effective forum for the delivery of psychological support. Research evidence shows equivalent effectiveness of online and in-person therapy. It is an especially good fit for individuals with a busy lifestyle as it  offers a lot more flexibility.

If you are looking for a online psychologist, I offer therapy sessions through video  call using  secure,  and encrypted video conferencing  platforms to ensure confidentiality in our sessions. The platforms I use  are Microsoft Teams and   Vsee.

Face-to-face sessions

Face-to-face therapy usually takes place at  Cliffe House, Anthony’s Way, Rochester, ME2 4DY. This is a conveniently located, modern building with ample parking. The building is wheelchair accessible.

Face masks are optional for any face-to-face therapy, and we can discuss before we meet what you would feel most comfortable with.

What to expect from the first appointment

Even if you opt for online psychologist services or face-to-face psychotherapy sessions, our first meeting will be an opportunity for us both to think about whether we might work well together. I will need to hear a bit about your situation, and you will want to get a sense of me so that you can decide whether I might be someone you can trust and open up to.

Therapy starts with an assessment, which is an opportunity for me to understand why you are here, what your goals  are, what has happened in your life and how you have coped. I will use my psychological knowledge to help us develop a shared understanding of your struggles. I will let you know if  I am able to help.  We will  then discuss the treatment that we think might help. After that, you can decide what you want to do next: we can make a plan straight away or, if you prefer, you can take some time before deciding.

Issues That I Can Help You With

It's my goal to create a comfortable, safe environment where we'll work together to achieve your goals.

My approach

My starting point for treatment is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Studies have shown that CBT can help many people with a range of problems but it is not right for everyone and everything, which is why I am also trained in other evidence-based approaches. The kind of person you are, the issues you are facing, and the change you are hoping for will all help to shape the approach we take.

The duration of therapy depends on the changes you are hoping to make. Six sessions is generally considered as ‘brief therapy’, some treatments last up to 20 sessions; long term therapy can be up to a year or more. We will agree the required number of sessions and it is possible to book them in advance.   Therapy sessions are 60 minutes in length and usually take place on a weekly basis, though some people prefer fortnightly sessions.
